At the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the capital, Delhi, today once again a youth committed suicide by jumping from the roof of the hospital.
According to the information received, at around 6 am on Monday morning, police received information from AIIMS Hospital that a person had jumped from the roof of the hospital. As soon as the incident was received, the police reached the spot and rushed the seriously injured youth to the Trauma Center for treatment.
The injured youth has been identified as Vikas, a medical student of the 2018 undergraduate batch who originally hailed from Bengaluru. 22-year-old Vikas was admitted to the psychiatric ward of AIIMS for the last few days.
The injured medical student was later pronounced dead during treatment. During interrogation, it was revealed that the deceased had taken an hour’s leave from the ward and allegedly jumped from the hostel roof. Further inquiries are ongoing.
Let me tell you that this is not the first incident of suicide in AIIMS. On July 10 last month, a 25-year-old junior resident doctor committed suicide by jumping from the 10th floor of the hostel. So far the reasons behind suicide have not been known.
At the same time, Tarun Sisodia, a 37-year-old Corona-infected journalist, committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of AIIMS under suspicious circumstances. After the incident, Sisodia was immediately admitted to the Trauma Center in AIIMS, but her life could not be saved. A high-level committee was formed to investigate the journalist’s death.
