Delhi AIIMS, which became the first government hospital in the country with physiotherapy and separate OPD block for elderly patients, will now receive medical advice and blood test reports.
Delhi AIIMS has launched Smart Lab in the new OPD block. On Thursday, Union Health Minister Harshvardhan inaugurated the AIIMS Rajkumari Amrit Kaur Out Patient Department.
This OPD block was started in February this year, but OPD was closed since March due to the Corona epidemic. Shortly before, AIIMS has re-introduced OPD system for limited patients. There is a smart lab in the eight-story OPD block where the process will start within 90 minutes of giving samples. Apart from this, the blood sample can be kept safe for 48 hours so that it can be used in case of a need for re-examination.
According to AIIMS management, this lab with a capacity of two lakh samples in a day can provide reports to at least 10 thousand patients on the same day. Right now 100 lab parameters are being tested in this lab, which can be increased to 270 in the coming days.
Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, while congratulating Delhi AIIMS on its success, called the contribution of health workers in the Corona epidemic important. He said that the situation in India with the virus is improving every day.
AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said that on 9 February this year a new block of OPD was started but OPD was banned at the time of lockdown. There is a provision of 15 thousand patients visiting the OPD block near the Masjid Moth area. There is also a parking facility near this block.
The facility will also be started here regarding nuclear medicine and the emergency department. It has 270 rooms, 13 small operation theaters, 50 procedure rooms, 18 departments, 85 counters, a venting area of one thousand patients on every floor, WiFi in the entire building, etc.
